Mosaic
Case Study – Online Retailer: Vitacost
The online retailer needed help managing their printers so they could get back to managing their customers

Client: Vitacost
The Challenge:
Vitacost.com is the #1 online retailer for supplements, health and wellness products, as well vitamins and natural foods. They have shipped over 15 million orders since 1994 and utilize 3 offices nationally to ship over 30,000 different products to customers around the world.
Vitacost has been a transactional supply customer of Mosaic’s for years. Managing a diverse fleet of printers with many brands, makes, and models throughout their 3 offices presented many challenges. We engaged with them in our patented assessment process and found that if we standardized models across offices while right-sizing equipment they could save thousands each year while upgrading to more energy efficient and low cost equipment.
Action Plan:
Our solution to refresh and redeploy Vitacost’s machines will help save the company $85,650 and put everything on one simple invoice.
Through discussions with IT, end users, and even a few videos they sent to show us how their production lines worked we found the perfect device set to improve workflow and eliminate legacy devices that did not have the much needed multi-function capabilities.
There were 4 different brands and 12 models in the environment which made the management of inventory a big challenge too. Furthermore, with 3 offices structured this way processing ALL of the invoices for toner, ink, service, as well as equipment and related contracts was very time consuming for the accounting department.
Results:
The financial impact of the refresh and redeployment of Vitacost’s machines will help provide the company an overall cost savings of $85,650 over 36 months.
Now everyone has the machines they need, accounting will process one easy to read invoice per month, and the company has a well thought out strategy for managing their putput devices. Furthermore, we can help them control the growth of these costs over time and provide ongoing consultation to continue to drive savings and efficiency so they can focus on maintaining their status as the #1 retailer for supplements and vitamins.
